Wine Review:
Chateau Robin Des Moines Saint-Emilion 2015 Cost: $22.49 Alcohol: 13.5% We are big fans of Saint-Emilion wines and this Chateau Robin des Moines Saint-Emilion is a real bargain in its category. Merlot is the dominant grape and provides the red fruit driven taste profile, but the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon provide a great underlying structure. This fifth-Generation producer makes a traditional styled, balanced Bordeaux. Overall, a well-balanced, medium-bodied, slightly earthy wine at a great price. We purchased this bottle at Total Wine in Town & Country.

Chateau La Fleur Poitou Saint-Emilion 2018 Cost: $23.99 Alcohol: 14.5% A decent Bordeaux for the price. The wine begins with savory berries, chocolate, and some walnut undertones. It is full-bodied, medium acid with round, ripe tannins and a cranberry, flavorful finish. A better bottle when enjoyed with food, especially ripe, flavorful cheeses. A nice bottle for a decent price. Purchased at Total Wine in Town & Country. Wine Review:
2021 Division Villages 'L'Avoiron' Rosé of Gamay Noir Cost: $24.00 Alcohol: 12.5% Winemakers Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe were inspired by the wineries of Loir, Beaujolais, Burgundy, and the Northern Rhone which is where the duo first learned about winemaking. Today they have settled into Oregon and Washington State in one of the fastest growing and diverse American wine growing regions of the past 40 years: the Columbia Valley. Their goal is to create approachable, balanced wines with minimal interference. Many of their wines are organic and delicious examples of wines the winemakers themselves love to drink. Today’s wine, the 2021 Division-Villages “l’Avoiron” Rosé of Gamay Noir is yet another delicious rosé from Division. A wine that is crisp, refreshing, juicy, and simply incredible. Tinged with the aromas of watermelon and strawberry. There is a refreshing minerality of the finish. An exceptional wine at a reasonable price. Wine Review:
2019 La Posta Malbec Pizzella Cost: $13.29 Alcohol: 13.5% Wines from Argentina are considered New World wines, but their history of winemaking is long and storied going back almost four hundred years. They are the largest winemakers in South America and are well known for their versions of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah wines. Fourth Generation Vintner, Laura Catena, created this incredible Malbec. This single vineyard wine is, in a word, fantastic and at an incredible price. Filled with the flavor of dark fruit and ripe red berries, the smooth, even finish makes you want to sip even more. Lovely, long finish with balanced tannins, this Malbec is a winner in every sense of the word. I cannot wait to try it again. From the bottle: “The Pizzella Family invites you to journey westward into the Uco Valley for a Sunday afternoon with them. There will be no agenda beyond the sun warming your skin and the air filling your lungs. You will sit at the family table, and with each passing moment, you will become more of a part of it. And it will remind you of important work - to enjoy the simpler times.” Wine Review:
2016 La Coppia Chianti Classico DOCG Cost: $22.00 Alcohol: 14% A Chianti Classico that is 100% organic Sangiovese. Beautiful, deep ruby red color with the fragrance of red fruit and the addition of a spicy note. The taste is very dry with a full body and balanced tannins. Enjoy this amazing Chianti with grilled meats, red sauce, or hearty cheese. A fantastic Chianti that will not break the bank. We picked up this bottle at Grand Spirits in South Saint Louis. |
