Wine Review:
2018 Chateau Macquin St-Georges Saint Georges – Saint-Emilion Red Bordeaux Cost: $21.99 Alcohol: 14.5% A trip to Bordeaux in a bottle. This wine from St-Georges-St-Emilion is a bargain. Rich garnet color with the flavors of red fruits. The nose gives off scents of vanilla, toffee and toast and boasts a lovely texture enriched with subtle tannins. This is the best of all worlds: affordable and delicious. A terrific value for the money, this Bordeaux was excellent with beef but could easily pair with lamp, or poultry. It is perfect for drinking right now and an excellent vintage.

2019 Chateau de La Bottiere Beaujolais-Villages Cost: $14.99 Alcohol: 12.5% A crisp, fruit-forward, juicy wine containing dramatic aromas and flavors of ripe red berries, with attractive weight in the mouth. This pairs beautifully with chicken or turkey. About the Beaujolais-Villages Appelation: The Beaujolais-Villages appellation is in the northern part of the vineyard and includes thirty-eight villages. The steep vineyards, facing east-south-east, surround the ten Beaujolais crus of the northern half of the vineyard. As the vineyard’s mid-range wines, they can be enjoyed young or after a few years of cellar aging. The wines produced in the southern part of the Beaujolais-Villages appellation are easy-to-drink and fruity; those from the central area are richer and structured; and in the area of crus, the wines are more robust and round. The Beaujolais-Villages appellation is cultivated on the region’s best hills. The Beaujolais-Villages vines flourish thanks to the special sunshine on these terroirs since this prestigious vineyard stands on granite, sandy soils with some volcanic sedimentary rock. Gamay, the characteristic grape variety of the Beaujolais region, conveys its full potential here: expressive, intensely fruity, and fragrant. Wine Review:
