Whisky Review
Springbank 10-year-old Scotch Whisky @starrswine It has been difficult to find Springbank in Saint Louis for the past few years. Our area has limited allotments, making it a rare find. However, we were able to find a bottle just a few weeks ago at our friendly @starrswine. Springbank was established in 1828 on the site of an illegal still that is believed to have been in operation since the Middle Ages. It is the only Scottish distillery that has always remained independent. The 10-year-old expression is made from barley that is malted using local peat and fresh water from the Crosshil Loch. Springbank does not aim for consistency of cask selection, resulting in some ten-year-olds being more sherried than others. This makes it more enjoyable to drink in our opinion! A bit of charcoal and clove along with the scent of the sea hits you in the nose. Malty and spicy on the tongue with a long, satisfying finish with the sea salt coming through.
